Board of Trustees
 August 8, 2024

The North Arkansas College Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday 8, August 2024 in the JPH conference center. Chair Pledger called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Trustees Don Tomlinson, Scott Miller, Pam Henry, Luke Feighert, Chris McNew, Debbie Johnson, and Sarah Newman were present.

North Arkansas College personnel attending included Dr. Rick Massengale, Tavonda Brown, Richard Stipe, Dr. Matt Cardin, Mel Klipp, Jo Adams, Dr. Laura Berry, Ryan Hoffman, Kris Greening, Jeff Smith, Teresa Paul, Brandon Cone, Micki Somers, Genie Allen, Dr. Rodney Arnold, and Harrison Daily Times guest, Scott McDonald.

Approval of Agenda
Chair Pledger asked if there were any changes to the agenda as presented. There being none a motion was made, unanimously approved.

Regular Reports
Finance Report: Richard Stipe shared the E&G and Auxiliary budget activities through July 2024.

In the E&G fund, Richard Stipe stated the total monthly revenue was $4,007,829, and the expenditures ended at $1,848,424. The year-to-date total of revenues was $4,007,829, and expenses were $1,848,424.

Auxiliary: The month's revenue totaled $369,405, and the expenditures totaled $90,244. The year-to-date revenues were $369,405, and expenses were $90,244.
He updated the board members on completing the Arts Studio expansion project. He informed the members of the end from a project budget standpoint. He said initially, the planned budget was a $400,000 project, including North Arkansas College matching the Windgate Foundation, at $200,000. The first-round bids were much higher than expected. After re-bidding, North Arkansas College revised the project to $750,000 with the addition of grant funds from the Walton Foundation that the Board approved. The match portion of the college ended at $390,000. He expressed his gratification of the contractors.

President's Report:
Dr. Massengale gave an update on the campus. He mentioned the partnerships with area high schools and Comps for Cops, which included 12 officers of completion. He said he would give an enrollment update at the next board meeting. Dr. Massengale recognized twenty-six students and two programs from the 2023-2024 school year who are NJCAA All-Academic Team award winners. He invited everyone to attend the Fall 2024 Convocation on August 15 and the Zach Williams concert on August 24.

Consent Agenda
The consent agenda included the July regular meeting and special meeting minutes, reclassification from Associate Vice President of Workforce and Career Initiatives to Vice President of Technical Education and Workforce Development.

Chair Pledger asked for a motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Trustee Miller made the motion, which was seconded by Trustee Henry and unanimously approved.

Monitoring Report
Dr. Rodney Arnold presented the monthly monitoring report, Increase Community Engagement. The information aligns with goal two, Engagement of the bg真人游戏注册 Strategic Plan.

The bg真人游戏注册 Challenge will take place on October 13, 2023, and he recognized the Challenge winners, Lucas Gibson and Clayton Villines. He mentioned other events of 2024: the Economic Update Series with guest speaker Dr. Michael Pakko and the John Paul Hammerschmidt Lecture Series held on February 13, 2024, with guest speaker Sidney Moncrief. The Evening on the Plaza was held on April 18, 2024. Bonnie Baker received the Pioneer Impact Award, Cathy Brandt received the Ozarks Ambassador Award, and Donna Boehm received the Distinguished Alumni Award.

The 26th annual golf tournament presented by Anstaff Bank was held on May 20, 2024, and the bg真人游戏注册 Summer Movie, Jumanji, was held on July 22, 2024. Additional events include the 50th-year celebration with the Bill Baker Day ceremony on April 19, 2024, bg真人游戏注册 alumni Zach Williams performing at the Bill Baker Amphitheater on Saturday, August 24, 2024, and the burial of the North Arkansas College time capsule on August 26, 2024.

Dr. Arnold reported on the objective: Increase and Enhance Community Education Offerings. The Fall 2023 Community Education Courses had 144 participants, and the Spring 2024 had 265. Attendance doubled from the previous year. The 2023-2024 online community education courses through Ed2go had a total of fourteen students. He said the online program will continue to gain momentum in the Fall semester. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the Community Education Coordinator, Genie Allen.

Dr. Arnold reported on the objective of enhancing marketing and public relations strategies. He stated that the July campaign report on Pandora's music streaming service reached 25,357 listeners with 48 clicks. We reached 36,554 and 62 clicks on Spotify. The Facebook performance reached 30,175, with 1,920 for the July report.
